I think part of its strength is the fact the game focuses on a heroine in a unique setting with a unique profession. In the case of the Eventide series, the games follow a botanist who explores various fantastical environs in the modern day.Eventide 1 introduces us to our heroine. She's visiting her grandmother's "heritage park", like a historical reenactment village, and learns that various Slavic myths are real. She uses her botany skills and the help of some fantasy creatures to solve the issue at hand.The art in this game, as in the sequels, is gorgeous, as is the music. What I really appreciate is that, although the game is somewhat easy, the game is very well crafted. Most puzzles and thematic elements directly have to do with botany or fantasy stuff. There isn't a ton of filler. It's highly immersive, and that, above all else, is what I care about in a hidden object puzzle game.Details for HOPA fans:- There are collectibles in the game, a few different kinds- If you liked Nightmares from the Deep or the Enigmatis series, you'll really like this game/series- Although the game may, on the surface, seem similar to Enigmatis: Ravenwood, the games are very different. The only things they have in common are that they're high quality games that have a similar color palette and feature heroines who use their professional skills to solve a problem in an amusement park type of setting (at least for Eventide 1 and Enigmatis 2 specifically, not other games in those series). The differences are tone, professions of the heroines and how those relate to the game (and both play major roles in the game), and genre (I'd say Ravenwood leans way more into horror and Eventide leans way more into mythological fantasy).. Decent point and click with a nice story line (ah well it is entertaining anyway), nice graphics and a lot of traveling. The navigate map function is a bit rough (it puts you somewhere near where you are suppose to be but it might be a few screen ahead or back as well). Recommended for an hour of more of fun, the story is not too long but long enough.... It was fun and pretty easy.. This game is similar to other Artifex Mundi games, but definitely has its own personality with its relation to Slavic folklore. I found the puzzles engaging and balanced, which kept me distracted from some of the weaker plot points.. I am currently on a point and click games train where I am playing through a lot of them. Decided to write a review for one of them. So... If you enjoy point and click games this is good I guess. The thing that I do want to mention is writing. I found it abysmal. Every other sentence has to have word "slavic" in it. It is just so bad. My ears hurt every time I heard it. If this is story about slavic creatures, we can assume it is taking place in a slavic country. Now why would people from that country feel the need to mention word "slavic" so often. They wouldn't say "Those are creatures from slavic myths" they would just say "Those are creatures from myths". In the end no one will probably see this, but if you do, remember this is a game about slacid, game sure won't let you forget that. Also there is one moment in a game that just made no sense. I know that point and click games, let's say, aren't always logical, but still. So at one poing you need to defeat flying monster. You are told to talk to the guy who did that before. When you talk to him however, he says that his body is in pain and he needs a bath to bring back his power. "Okay", I thought, "I will run him a bath and he will fight the monster with me", but no! After going through a lot of pointing and clicking he takes the bath. Once he is out, he thanks you and gives you a key to a tool used to defeat the monster! Just put it into perspective. I am on a mission to save all of the creatures including him, but instead of giving me the key he decided he wants to have a bath first!. I found this to be a fun Game, the graphics aren't the best but the Story was interesting and plenty Puzzles to keep your brain active and working. A definite Recommend if you like RPG Puzzle type games.. Very nicely done hidden object game. Graphics clear/clean. Voice acting not the best, but tolerable. Unobtrusive music, pleasant. I Highly recommend. 9/10. Reasonably good HO game. Creative creatures and some good puzzles. The lack of a progress indicator for the "bookworm" achievement was a bit annoying, but other than that, no real complaints.. This was a good one. How often do you see stories about slavic mythos let alone in a HOG. My one problem is some of the puzzles or items are not as intuitive as they could be. Like Magnet that you need to extend the range of and a rope. Use the rope on the magnet? Nope. Use the rope on a door in the same room to open the latch. (You'll see, it makes sense.) The actual item to go with the magnet is a string on a stick. Other then that this was a nice change of atmosphere. Kind of reminded me a little of Enigmatis 2 with the abandoned theme park.. One of the few games with Slavic traditions and customs involved, and i am always supportive of those kinds of things. We need more of Slavic stuff
